Create Nulls From Paths is a small but essential After Effects utility. It takes the points of a mask, shape or motion path and generates a null object at each vertex, connected with expressions. Move the nulls and the path follows — giving you direct, animatable control over shapes that are normally awkward to adjust.

Why it is so useful

Editing individual path points on the timeline is slow and fiddly. By exposing every point as a null, this script lets you rig, morph and animate paths the same way you move any other layer. It is a foundational tool for shape rigging and creative path animation.

How to run it
